Monday, 3rd May

Set up street stall on Holloway Road, Nags Head. Spoke to many people, some of whom said they had already voted for me and others who said they planned to on Thursday. Even included a couple of disgruntled life-long Labour voters who said they were considering the Conservatives for the first time. One lady mentioned she had never seen the Conservatives out in Islington North. Nice to see a momentum building, whilst by no means an easy ride there is  real hope of offering the change we all need.

Sunday, May 2nd

Horrible weather so I cancelled my street stall – I didn’t think many people would be keen to hang around and chat!  Instead I’ve turned to my huge inbox and am trying to respond to some of the queries raised by people in Islington North.  Also saw David Cameron’s interview on the Andrew Marr show – I’m pleased to see he was looking pretty Prime Ministerial!

Saturday, 1st May

I’ve been campaigning on a number of occasions in Barking to support Simon Marcus in his fight against the BNP. He has lots of support from across the whole community and it was encouraging to see that a lot of people one might not have taken to be “tribal” Conservatives are really keen to get behind him – many are standing for the Council (the biggest slate we’ve ever had in Barking)).  Sadly though, we did speak to one person who said “there’s only one Party to vote for and we walk the streets” – he meant the BNP.  So still lots of work to do.  We must always remember that it’s the Conservatives who are the real way to take down the BNP not Labour since it’s Labour’s failures which have provided the grievances upon which the BNP play.

Friday, 31st April

The last of my hustings – the People’s Charter organised by Islington Trades Union Council at the Central Library.  A very interesting debate well chaired.  Many of the aims of the People’s Charter are very much in line with our policies – particularly those intended to benefit pensioners and aimed at preventing hate crime against minorities but others depend upon a level of economic wealth we simply don’t have at the moment. I stressed that we needed to re capture our economic wealth through encouraging business and employment so that we could afford to invest in our social wealth.  But there were some hard messages about the current economic mess Labour have gotten us into as well and these were not so popular – although politely received.

Thank You!

Adrian would like to say a big thank you to all our supporters and volunteers who gave so much throughout our 2010 election campaign and of course to our the voters.

We have shown that support for the Conservatives is growing at an incredible pace within the area and at the next election we are confident we will see our candidate elected.

But for this to happen we still need YOUR help for everything from leaflet distribution to keeping us informed of problems in your area.
